Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death: Suicide, Murder and Politics | Opinion

The news of the death of Sushant Singh Rajput jolted the entire nation overnight. He was popular enough to send across ripples worldwide.

It was a calm Sunday afternoon when most of us were lazing around sitting in our homes during the lockdown period in India. It was a quick Facebook scroll that enabled us to grab the TV remotes to let our heart negate the shock. But, it was short lived and the news of Sushant’s suicide was being widely covered on all news channels.

Ever since then, it has been a case of crests and troughs with newer stories emerging every single day.

Initially, the news channels started off with the saga of him committing suicide due to huge number of reasons which obviously the world didn’t see, deviating the entire scenario pointing towards his bad mental health. Gradually, when things started to mystify, more angles were explored all the way from his issues with the Yashraj Banner & Dharma Productions. Where Yashraj was the first production house to sign him in for the first role, later on it was Dharma Productions which had to do more roles with him. But, things went absurd when they started ignoring him as his talent was way better than the industry star kids raging an open war of nepotism against Bollywood’s big powerhouses including the Bhatts, Johars, Kapoors, Khans and the others.

Few media personalities even tainted his image of a failed artist who couldn’t cope up with the failures leading him to take such step. This perception of suicide was so disturbing that there have been a couple of more suicides by teenagers and students post his death who couldn’t cope up with the news of somebody as bright as Sushant claiming his own life.

The severity of this case is such that ever since his demise two months ago, the story revolving around his final hours continues to raise questions.

Major theories and advancements since June 14 (as alleged in the electronic and print media):

  • Suicide theory – His last release before ‘Dil Bechara‘, ‘Drive‘ was supposed to have a theatrical release but couldn’t due to Karan Johar stalling Sushant’s success by signing a deal with Netflix and making it an OTT release. Further, some big & specific production houses had issues with Sushant not allowing him to thrive per his talent. Blind articles (with #metoo allegations) were being written against him to malign his public image and provoke him. As he was extremely sentimental with his public image, it made his condition worse. In addition, his career took a toll and he went into depression. His girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty (a close ally of Mahesh Bhatt) took him to the same Psychologist who is Mahesh Bhatt’s friend. She even gave him medicines for depression but his condition continued to deteriorate. After his death, Mahesh Bhatt even regarded him as “Parveen Babi” of current generation who also happened to commit a suicide in 2005. Coincidentally, the hospital where post-mortem for other deceased Bollywood’s stalwarts (Parveen Babi, Jiah Khan, Divya Bharti and now SSR) was conducted has been the same infamous Cooper Hospital only. Moreover, the doctors who performed the post-mortem have gone missing in a new report.

  • Disclosure on people opinions – Within 1-2 weeks of his demise, people started observing signs that indicated towards the scenario being too fishy. With more & more people sharing about their experiences with him, it came to be known how grounded and jolly he was as a person and how he used to make others feel in his presence. His personal staff even took risk of giving access to the news channels and let their voices heard. It came to notice that Rhea fired almost his entire staff gradually ever since she came in his life and used to give him the medication for depression herself. She even took control of his finances, whom he talk to and who he meet with, his communications and everything. She was also instrumental in creating differences between him and his sisters. On the D-day,  it was alleged that he was with a few of his friends in his flat along with his other two staff members. Sidharth Pithani (Sushant’s friend), one of the main witness throughout the investigation changed his statement multiple times. Initially, he told the authorities that he found his body hanging and made it lie on the bed. On the contrary, no body has seen him hanging except Sidharth while there were other people at his home too. He was even found out to be leaving a show midway on a national news channel prime time after changing his statements a couple of times.

  • The Political Angle – There have been media reports that claims involvement of youth political leader in Sushant Singh’s death. It’s alleged that the leader was friends with Suraj Pancholi who was erstwhile blamed for Jiah Khan’s death too. It is anticipated that Suraj had some physical dispute with Disha Salian (Sushant’s former Manager) who complained the same to Sushant hours before she died. As confirmed by one of his family friends ‘Smita’, he happened to fear for his life too post knowing about Disha’s death. One of the reasons why he changed so many numbers in the past few months. Since, Suraj is a close ally to the youth leader, they along with a few other folks planned to silent Sushant forever. One of BJP MPs from Mumbai even condemned Sushant’s death as murder accusing Maharashtra’s ruling party and its leaders with confidence of submitting relevant proofs to the authorities. It’s also alleged that Sushant was killed with the use of a stun gun to give him a high voltage shock and then finally with the asphyxiation due to dog collar being tied on his neck.

  • The Underworld Involvement – One of the media agency even explored the role of underworld mafia in the killing of Sushant. Since Sushant’s mobile numbers were frequently changed in the past few months, it’s alleged that it was due to the involvement of some mafia that is being run by the underworld. It’s role was undeniably huge in the earlier day industry and insiders believes that the roots are deep even today. It’s alleged that Sushant knew something critical about the international radar free financing of one of the big banners. When he was planning to share this information with the media, he had to be shut.

  • Continuous additions of new faces: Ever since the CBI has taken over the case on the approval of Supreme court’s judgement, there has been newer faces on the case every now and then. As of now, chargesheet has been filed against Rhea and her family, Sidharth Pthani, Shruti (Sushant’s new Manager). Rhea has also been summoned by Enforcement Directorate twice in lieu of the constant outflow of the capital from Sushant’s account. The latest ask was from Sushant’s Ex-Girlfriend, Ankita Lokhande as Sushant’s account was being deducted for an EMI for the flat he purchased while living in with Ankita.  Fortunately, she has shared the required proofs. The investigation is still on going and the chances are that it can go either way. With the way, things are coming out in open, one can safely say that Sushant was indeed murdered.

To conclude, by seeing the irregularities in what was framed as a suicide, Sushant’s death is definitely not a cause of it. Instead, it does seem that he was murdered. The reason is unknown as yet. We may get to know about it soon. But if there’s actually an involvement of somebody influential, we may not see the light of the day.  Like in the previous high profile cases of the other actors who allegedly committed suicide (Divya Bharti, Jiah Khan, Parveen Babi, Pratyusha Banerjee & others). Irrespective, since we should always choose hope so we all wish and hope that his soul rests in peace and his family gets a final closure with justice.  so let’s pray that the justice is served.

In the memory of the pure soul, let’s take a look at some of his unseen pictures:

Here’s a beautiful dedication for the late actor:

The prayers are on going and billboards across the globe has started displaying hoardings for justice for Sushant. Take a look:

May he gets the due justice soon! Amen.
